How do I know?

Happy Easter. Seriously, what is there not to like about Easter? You have a day that starts out with a great dose of spirituality, has chocolate in the middle and ends with more spirituality.

Anyway, a few weeks ago I was talking with a friend about her latest relationship challenge. She rambled on for some time about how she can’t find the right guy. After what seemed like an hour I could no longer hold back. I said that until she resolve her divorce that happened over 8 years ago she will never be happy.” She was silent for a few seconds then indigently said that I could never understand. She explained at great length how she had moved past the divorce and had just not found the one.

After changing the subject we talked a bit longer. As she leaned over to grab her purse I blurted out, ‘until you get over being left alone you will never be able to move past it.’

She stared at me and then walked out of the restaurant.

I knew I should have kept quiet but sadly that is not how I am. If I see someone in pain I think it is my duty to help whether they ask or not.

She called me last night out of the blue. She had to know how I knew that her issue was being left alone? After all her husband had cheated on her and it was never be about him leaving, because she kicked him out.

No idea how I know I just know. The answer pops into my head. (To be honest most people call it intuition.)

She explained that after a few sleepless nights she remembered how her father would leave some times for a day sometimes for months. Upon reflecting she had, as a child, always blamed her self. She had never realized that until recently that it had clouded all her relationships not just her marriage. Her mood was light and happy and I knew she would be able to resolve that issue and begin to form healthy relationships.

As I like to say, ‘my work here is done time onto the next person.’
