EGO mind at work

by | Jan 26, 2014 | Uncategorized | 0 comments

After 21 days of eating healthy and watching the inches melt away I woke up feeling “fat”.  I had not enjoy any unhealthy snacks during this weight challenge but still there it was. . . . the EGO.

What happened? I tried on a pair of jeans and decided they didn’t fit, next pair didn’t fit, next pair felt tight. I had worn these same jeans over the weekend and all three pairs were baggy but this morning, tight!  Ugh!  I sat in the living room staring into space wondering if all of this “food discipline” was worth it.

That maybe, like a thousand times before, I should just say “forget about it.”  Say its just too hard and fall back to mediocrity.

Then it hit me . . . it was my EGO mind at work.

Not the EGO minds you are thinking.  The one that will say “oh I look great” or “aren’t I really smart etc” or “I am a master business person.”  No!

Your EGOs real job is “fight or flight.”

The EGO tells when your life is in danger!  Doesn’t matter if it is physical or mental danger it sees, it as danger!  The Ego yells Danger Danger Will Robinson you are leaving your circle of comfort and daring to venture into the unknown.  When you are shedding weight and your body image changes the EGO goes on red alert and does everything possible to get you back to your comfort zone.

And if your EGO’s first alert doesn’t work thats ok it will just raise the alarm.  And continue to increase until it scares you and moves you back.  The more you move out of your comfort zone, the more the EGO fights to get you back. It will tell you that you’ll always be and look fat, you clothes will alway look slumpy, no one cares anyway so what is the point or the granddaddy of them all . . . . .you have alway been and will always be FAT! so why bother.

But if you are prepared, you can win not only the EGO battles but the war!!!!   You have to be prepared to prevent yourself yourself from sabotaging all of your efforts.

You must learn to recognized the signs, know them and have the personal confidence to keep moving forward.

This can be hard . . but if you really want to stop hiding and be the person you know inside you have to become . . . Be willing to battle and beat down your EGO.

Next week we will discuss more about your EGO and its impact on your life and personal growth.

I will teach you how to defend yourself from your EGO mind.
